What is Gitcoin?
Gitcoin is a platform that creates a community that supports a new infrastructure for Web3, including tools, technologies and networks that drive developments in the open source field.
Gitcoin enables open source developers to get paid for their work. In return, projects are exposed to a community of hard-working developers located around the world.
Since its launch in November 2017, Gitcoin Grants has now provided almost $16M in crowdfunding products. Also, through Gitcoin $40M bonuses were paid to developers.
Gitcoin Highlights
Gitcoin Grants
This is a feature for users to donate money to projects, the money will go directly to the project’s wallet. Anyone can participate in the quarterly Gitcoin Grants rounds, either as a giver or a receiver.
Currently, there have been 11 rounds of Gitcoin Grants held, you can donate to potential projects on Gitcoin, maybe we will have the opportunity to receive retroactive from these projects.
Gitcoin Bounties
Gitcoin Bounties provides a marketplace for users (usually developers, designers) to find and work on tasks to receive bonuses provided by projects.
In addition to the opportunity to learn new skills and earn money, the task itself is also very flexible, as participants can choose the bonuses that are right for them.
Projects will save time on non-core tasks and allow the team to focus on important features. In the process, projects can also discover talent by presenting real-life problems for them to solve, an ideal way to recruit.
Example: Above is a list of tasks posted by 2 projects Algorand and Harmony for developers to do with generous rewards.
Gitcoin Hackathons
Organize a contest on a certain topic for the community to participate in to receive prizes.
In addition to the main features on Gitcoin, there are also the following interesting features:
- Quests: Learn about the Web3 ecosystem and compete with your friends for well-deserved rewards.
- Kudos: Badges for people who contribute to Gitcoin, they can be bought and sold on the marketplace.
