The NFTs.com domain was sold for a reported $15 million making it one of the most expensive domain name sales in history.
According to DomainInvest, the deal was brokered by Domainer and GoDaddy for an undisclosed buyer, while Escrow.com facilitated the sale. Jackson Elsegood, General Manager of Escrow.com, said it was one of the largest Web3-related transactions he had ever seen his platform.
The deal was completed on August 3, making it the largest publicly reported domain sale in the past few years, after the Voice.com domain name in 2019 for $30 million. It is also the most expensive crypto-related domain in history, surpassing Eth.com, which was purchased for $2 million in 2017.

Interestingly, in April 2021, the domain name Bitcoin.com was briefly listed on GoDaddy for $100 million.

However, other registrars such as NameCheap objected to the move, stating that Bitcoin.com was not for sale, and GoDaddy was promptly updated with a status update stating that “Bitcoin.com has been approved. use”.
Back to the main topic, the news that NFTs.com is being sold for 15 million USD comes in the context when the field of Web3 domain names is “hot” again, especially ENS alphanumeric domains. Although there have been no sales commensurate with the “vertigo” value of Web2 domains, ENS domains are often sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
The biggest sale to date of the ENS domain goes to paradigm.eth, purchased in October 2021 for 420 ETH (about $1.5 million at the time). Despite the coincidence of names, the famous cryptocurrency investment fund Paradigm has denied that they made the purchase of this domain name.
On the other hand, some users think that this may be a joke, although the cost is somewhat expensive. However, cases of “excessive” jokes are not unheard of in the market, recently there has been an extremely rare incident when an NFT investor had to lose 100 ETH because of “foolishness” ” with ENS.
