Neruno Daisuki, an illustrator and manga artist from Japan recently went viral on Twitter after 5 minutes showing off a collection of pebbles and glass shards he collected from the soles of his shoes over the last year.
You know, little stones get stuck in the grooves of the soles of shoes and sandals, but no one thinks about collecting them. But this guy did and after a year of hard work, Daisuki showed off a collection of 179 pebbles, 32 pieces of glass and 1 bead.
Daisuke shared: “When I was removing the pebbles that got stuck in the groove on the back of a new pair of sneakers, I felt it would be a waste to just throw them away and I thought it was fun to collect them.”
The Japanese collector revealed that the stretch between his house and the convenience store is where most of the gravel gets stuck. However, removing them from the shoes is not as simple as you think because if you use too much force, the pebbles and debris can fly away.

Neruno Daisuki started collecting pebbles last June. He did this to make himself less free during the Covid-19 lockdown. But interestingly, this strange hobby gradually grew and prompted him to collect more pebbles.

Aside from some wondering why anyone would spend a whole year on something like that, the overall response to Daisuki’s collection has been overwhelmingly positive. Most people admire his patience and ingenuity.
Many people said they were inspired and will start collecting pebbles to make a collection of their own.
As for Nerono, he wants to keep growing his collection for a while and is considering splitting the collection between the right and left soles until he comes up with a more interesting project.
